Night Time Drawing

Compared to daytime drawings, it was a little harder to get started, to get adjusted to not being able to see my paper well, and determining how much pressure to put on the conte. The shapes were very definite with my light source. I went to harbor town and found a pound that literally had a spot light on the ground shining on a bench and a tree, making a reflection in the pond. So a very prominent, directional light helped.
Oh, and I think the last word I'm looking for is COLD!

Contrast in Motion

The first video by Kentridge, has a lot of architecture and interiors (like we just worked with).

The second is from Michael Jackson's 'This is It', showing footage from what his last concert series would be like. The video starts with altered footage from an old movie and is entirely in black and white. And even in the later footage of their dance practice, they use lighting to transform their bodies into silhouettes and play with shadows.
